Help UK dog owners navigate canine anxiety with honest, scientifically-backed advice — so every anxious dog gets a calmer life and every owner gets answers they can trust.

The story

Why Captain Calm exists.

Captain Calm was started by Taro Schenker, a software developer and lifelong dog lover who wanted to use his technical skills on something meaningful for the dogs he’s always been passionate about.

Like most owners of an anxious dog, Taro hit a wall of conflicting advice, miracle-cure marketing and products that didn’t deliver. The good information existed — in vet journals, behaviourist papers, the occasional clinical trial — but it sat scattered across paywalls, forums and outdated blog posts. No one had compiled it for UK owners in plain English.

Captain Calm is that resource. Veterinary research, behaviourist guidance and lived experience, brought together for British pet owners who want the truth, not affiliate spam.

How we work

Three rules we won’t break.

  1. Evidence first, vibes never

    Every claim links to a study, a vet body, or a manufacturer’s data sheet. If we can’t cite it, we don’t say it.

  2. UK-specific only

    Products you can actually buy, prices in £, dosing in metric, regulations that match British vets. American calming-treats blogs aren’t useful when you live in Bristol.

  3. Honest reviews, even when it hurts revenue

    If a product doesn’t work, we say so — even if it costs us the affiliate commission. The recommendation only matters if you can trust it.

Transparency

Affiliate links, no influence.

Captain Calm earns commissions on some product links. It costs you nothing extra and keeps the content free.

Affiliate relationships never change a verdict. We list pros, cons and what didn’t work for the dogs we tested with.
